Philip trained as a language instructor for Richard Lewis at Canterbury University in 1975, taught English in the Madrid school and became Commercial Manager for Spain before moving to South America in 1981.

In 1985 he founded what would become the largest corporate English-Training Company in Chile (International Business ConsultantsLanguage Training). As representative of BBC English, pioneered the use of video (blended learning) in the classroom and co-developed English teaching programmes for the Catholic University’s Educational TV Channel (Teleduc - notably “Follow Me” and “Person to Person” as co-star.)

As an active member of the British and American Chambers of Commerce, Philip secured company-wide training contracts with major international and domestic players in the country. Clients included Nestle, Unilever, British American Tobacco, HSBC, Citibank, Codelco, and other major mining companies.

In 1992, he organized the first Business Cross-Cultural Seminar with AMCHAM CHILE and sent many senior executives to Richard Lewis’s “Riversdown House” Residential Immersion Training Centre in the heart of Hampshire,UK.

In 1996 Philip was appointed representative of FranklinCovey for Chile, leading highly successful transformational courses at Exxon, McDonald’s, BCI Bank, UC Christus, training over 2000 participants from over 40 leading national and global corporations.

In 2002, together with Roberto Schüler and their partners at Boyden Institute he negotiated the representation of VitalSmarts (today Crucial Learning) for Chile and became one of the principal trainers in Latin America for “Crucial Conversations” and “Crucial Accountability”. Major training contracts include Banco Chile, Enersis, Soprole, Thyssen Krupp, Lider/Walmart and leading Salmon conglomerates in Patagonia. Has delivered training throughout the Latam Region (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Venezuela) and EMEA (UK, Spain, Dubai).

Since 2024, as he moves into semi-retirement, his focus is on improving the effectiveness and sustainability of commercial, technological, environmental and cultural/societal bridges between South America, Europe and the rest of the world, leveraging intercultural awareness. This led to the creation of Cross-Cultural Ambassadors & Specialists
